Alvin Cavallaro

I am saddened to report that my brother, Alvin Cavallaro, was rushed to the hospital late Saturday night February 3, 2007 around 9:30pm with chest pains. He had a massive heart attack; and at approximately 10:15pm he passed away.

He will long be remembered for his gentle and kind ways, his giving heart, and his willingness to help others. He will be missed by many.

Please remember his mother, Lydia Cavallaro; his son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Mary Cavallaro, and grandson Aiden; sister and brother-in-law, Lucy and Tony DeCaro; and Kathy Smith, his companion of over 20 years; and all the family and friends that will be mourning his loss.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to my Aunt Lil, Lucy, Aaron, Kathy and all the extended family that will greatly miss Alvin. The last time I saw Alvin was about 10 yrs ago in Lindsay at a family reunion, where I met Kathy as well (I’m so sorry for your loss Kathy). I remember the early years with cousin Alvin, when they lived on Runnymead in San Fernando Valley. He was so funny. Our older cousin Alvin wanted to show my brother Enos and I everything that younger cousins didn’t know yet. Those were the days, climbing trees, running in their big yard. I remember Alvin mostly laughing. They moved to Lindsay and I left for New Mexico in1974. We didn’t stay in touch a lot through the years, sadly, but the memories of growing up are plentiful and happy.

Aunt Lil, Kathy, Lucy, Tony, Andrea, Cris;
Alvin will be missed greatly in our lives. Our many memories of our childhood in Canoga Park on Runnymead, scamping through the property. All of the grandparents yelling after us, especially, Alvin, our "ring" leader. He was so brave, leading us around. I remember the chicken coop, when we came to California; even then Alvin played deacon; putting a hymn book on each seat and centering it perfectly on the chair. Our cousin trip to Sequoia, he lead us in climbing the huge trees and running through the orchards in Strathmore. Alvin always had a smile and a little smirk with a chuckle. Love that guy! We are very sad with such a sudden departure and the memories that Alvin left in our hearts will be treasured forever.

love & prayers Josie & Rob
